About the Role

We are seeking a strategic sourcing professional to manage the procurement of key commodities including assemblies, castings, and bearings. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, while upholding the highest standards in quality, delivery, and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Strategic Commodity Buyer, your duties will include:

  • Leading the complete sourcing cycle, including RFQ/RFI issuance, technical evaluations, and securing approval for new business awards.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive optimal supplier selection.
  • Performing market research to identify suppliers and solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Negotiating pricing and terms with external suppliers for both new and existing components.
  • Creating and maintaining commodity strategies that support company-wide goals and regional needs.
  • Tracking market trends and monitoring overall business conditions relevant to assigned commodities.
  • Managing supplier issues related to pricing, delivery, and commercial performance.
  • Ensuring adherence to global sourcing and procurement policies and procedures.
  • Building and managing the annual material budget; conducting regular cost analysis and reporting.
  • Partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Exploring and qualifying new suppliers to support evolving product requirements.
  • Maintaining up-to-date pricing agreements in line with contractual and customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in direct material sourcing within the automotive or manufacturing sector.
  • Proven background in sourcing (5+ years) castings, bearings, or assembly-related commodities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and provide technical sourcing leadership.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Highly organized with solid documentation and reporting capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Comfortable reading technical drawings and interpreting basic engineering documentation.
  • Analytical mindset with a deep understanding of purchasing strategy and cost management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
