Job Description: POS Tester
Location: Remote
Duration: 1 year
Type: Contract (C2C or 1099) or Full-time (W2)
Position Overview
We are seeking a POS Tester to validate the functionality, reliability, and performance of Point of Sale systems across hardware and software environments. The role ensures seamless customer transactions, compliance with financial standards, and operational excellence in retail or hospitality settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and document test cases for POS applications, devices, and integrations.
- Perform functional, regression, and system testing on POS software and hardware.
- Validate transaction flows including sales, refunds, discounts, loyalty programs, and payment methods (cash, card, mobile wallets).
- Test integrations with backend systems such as inventory, ERP, CRM, and payment gateways.
- Identify, log, and track defects; collaborate with developers and business analysts to resolve issues.
- Conduct performance and stress testing to ensure system stability during peak loads.
- Verify compliance with financial, security, and data protection standards (PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Provide clear documentation of test results, risks, and recommendations.
- Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and assist in training or rollout activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of POS systems and retail transaction workflows.
- Experience with manual and automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JMeter, Postman).
- Familiarity with payment processing standards and financial compliance.
- Proficiency in defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
- Solid understanding of SQL and ability to query databases for validation.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and able to work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Exposure to mobile POS and cloud-based POS solutions.
- Background in retail, hospitality, or financial services environments.
- ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
