This position is an onsite role in San Diego, CA, and no relocation assistance is available.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive technology support at the highest level on the design, project management, installation, maintenance, testing, documentation and support of local area 
networks, routing, switching, wide area data networks, internet protocols and architecture, information security solutions and technologies which cross over internal functional boundaries.
- Work closely with internal and external customers on the resolution of complex network technical problems.
- Provide technology leadership, guide capacity planning, new hardware and software installations, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Review and act on daily network performance data and diagnostics for the network infrastructure.
- Act as project manager for multiple complex network and security tool installation and support activities to provide the organization with an expert level of technical expertise as it applies to state-of-the-art communications.
- Ensure the stable operation of network communication links and security administration for a nonstop hosting and corporate environment.
- Lead capacity planning, design, implementation and documentation.
- Manage projects and support activities for internal and external network architecture including vendor selection, security, standardization, redundancy and performance.
- Prepare instructions and documentation for installation support teams, monitor project status and update management on issues which will impact project success.
- Ensure the secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections, including event correlation between IDS, IPS and firewall logs, scrutinizing and troubleshooting network traffic, expertise in packet capture and analysis.
- Analyze and resolve security breaches in a timely and accurate fashion, identify vulnerability issues through the use of penetration testing and security audits, conduct 
user activity audits where required and will enforce Information technology standards, policies and procedures. 
- Participate as a security networking engineering technical resource in the development of long-range plans to accomplish operational and development goals.
- Coordinate efforts with the team members to ensure that the information assets of the company and the commercial clients are protected at all times.
- Implement and manage network quality of service tools in the infrastructure including setting and maintaining policy-based rules for bandwidth utilization.
- Configure and install, switches routers, firewalls and other network devices.
- Lead troubleshooting and corrective action support of commercial application developers, external customers and internal operations.
- Perform packet capture and analysis to identify and remediate networking gaps.
- Monitor, gather statistics, perform analysis of performance data, recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Mentor team members on technical issues and assist members of the information services organization in their performance of system administration efforts in security 
management, telecommunications, networking, and general infrastructure management.
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.
- Create, oversee and test security measures such as access, authentication, etc.
- Maintain and enhance technical expertise and industry knowledge in server and networking technologies and their uses.

Skills & Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience working in a network engineer or similar capacity.
- Experience with WWW architectures, LAN/WAN networking, application design concepts and architectures, languages and security tools across a wide spectrum of computing platforms and technologies.
- 5+ years of experience administering and supporting local-area (LAN) and wide-area (WAN) network environments, network security, incident response and diagnosis, and vulnerability management.
- Industry certifications are highly preferred (CCNP, CCDP, MCSE, MCP, etc.).
- Bachelors degree or higher in CS, IS, or related field is preferred. 
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
- Extensive experience working with commercial developers, internal developers, and customers on the deployment and support of network and security tools for internal and 
WWW or other external facing infrastructure.
- Extensive experience with Cisco routers, switches, voice systems, network policy management, wide area network design and support including frame, point-to-point, VPN, 
and MPLS.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with, access control models, network security, networking protocols and services including but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP.
- Extensive experience with firewall technologies, perimeter design and support, WWW service providers, and domain management.
- Extensive experience with load balancing technologies, design and support, and URL/URI management.
- Excellent network design, engineering and documentation skills in a complex, multi-location, multi-protocol environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work with clients, technical staff, and vendors. Excellent problem solving and consultative skills. 
- Excellent planning, project management, documentation and implementation skills.
