Position: Jira administrator
Duration: 12 - Months Approx.
Location: Austin- TX (Hybrid)
- I. Description of Services
- The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking an experienced Jira Developer to support and enhance its Atlassian Jira Cloud environment. The selected candidate will serve as a Developer/Programmer Analyst 3 and will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Jira Software and Jira IT Service Management (ITSM) within the Atlassian Cloud platform.
- This role is focused on developing customized solutions in Jira, enhancing workflows, automations, and supporting tools using REST APIs and scripting. Experience with Jira Server to Cloud migration is a significant advantage.
- All work products resulting from this project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of TEA. Candidates must be eligible for criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law. No interview or discussion fees will be paid by the agency.
Position Overview
- The ideal candidate will:
- Design, configure, and manage Jira Software and Jira ITSM environments
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and implement scalable solutions
- Develop advanced JQL queries, workflows, automation rules, and permission schemes
- Utilize Jira REST APIs, HTML, and JavaScript for custom development and integration
- Provide documentation and communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience
- Support or collaborate on Jira Server to Cloud migration
- Understand access controls and identity management, preferably with Atlassian Access and Active Directory
Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain Jira projects (Software & ITSM) in Atlassian Cloud
- Build advanced workflows, automation, custom fields, and screensDevelop and manage complex JQL queries and filters
- Leverage Jira REST API for integrations and custom solutions
- Work with popular Jira plugins: ScriptRunner, JMWE, Email This Issue, Extension for Jira Service Desk
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
- Document processes and systems effectively

Compensation
Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, BeaconGov provides reasonable range of compensation for this role.
