RHEL System Engineer

We?re a small, disciplined infrastructure team looking for a RHEL System Engineer to take the lead on in-place upgrades, automated patching, and IP/network configuration in a VMware-based Linux environment. You?ll work closely with a tight-knit team (8 people, 2 Linux-focused) and operate within structured change control frameworks ? no cowboy engineering here.
This is not a role for someone currently working multiple gigs. We're looking for a committed engineer who values doing things the right way and brings maturity to a growing but focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
? Execute in-place upgrades across RHEL systems (6, 7, 8) hosted on VMware.
? Build and run Ansible playbooks for patching, configuration, and upgrade tasks.
? Map and manage IP addresses, network interfaces, and system routing.
? Ensure compliance with change and incident management protocols.
? Maintain detailed documentation for upgrade processes and network mapping.
? Collaborate with team members to implement best practices, not shortcuts.

Required Experience & Skills
? 5 years hands-on RHEL administration with at least versions 6 through 8.
? 3 years of BASH/ksh/sh shell scripting. (Ansible and Python a plus.)
? 3 years of RHEL administration on VMware virtualization.
? 3 years experience with major RHEL release upgrades (not just patching).
? Demonstrated understanding of IP networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, interfaces).
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
? 1 year working with Red Hat Satellite.
? 1 year experience managing Red Hat on Azure cloud infrastructure.
? 1 year familiarity with the ITIL framework, especially Change and Incident Management
