Job at a Glance

The client is seeking a Project Manager II to lead network communications projects supporting infrastructure improvements in the New Jersey operating region. This role will be part of the Enterprise Technologies business unit, managing the communications and SCADA track of EnergizeNJ projects. The position is 100% remote, with location restrictions.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the communications & SCADA track of projects to deploy monitoring & control to substation and line devices

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders - including operating company representatives, contractors, network architects, specialists, engineers, and technicians

  • Deliver communications-related projects on-scope, on-schedule, and on-budget

  • Participate in project scoping activities and assist with building the annual project pipeline

  • Manage tasks to ensure they are being completed on time - escalate or reassign as necessary

  • Understand Field Area Network signal testing procedures and impacts on the project

  • Monitor procurement of materials - track and report status

  • Manage target in-service dates for each project

  • Lead weekly project meetings spanning multiple teams

  • Provide status reports to project team and necessary stakeholders

  • Prepare and deliver documentation and presentations to leadership, up to executive level


Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Associates Degree in a computer science, technology, engineering or business-related program along with 2 years related work experience. In lieu of a degree, 4 years of related experience required

  • Related work experience includes, but is not limited to: knowledge of IT Project Management methodologies; experience in complex, technical projects; ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word

  • Experience developing detailed schedules for a portfolio of projects with various individual milestones

  • Experience running projects establishing communications to remote field devices

  • Understanding of underlying communications technologies including fiber (outside the plant), digital microwave, field area networks, SCADA/RTU communications, routing & switching

  • Experience coordinating project activities with contractors, subject matter experts, network architects, etc.

  • Strong project management education, skills, and/or background

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology

  • Detail-oriented, motivated, focused, and hard-working

  • Familiarity with general engineering documentation and an electrical background is preferred

  • Project management certification is a plus but not required

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI reporting is a plus but not required
