VDart is seeking a Project Engineer (Cost Analysis & Reporting) to join our team and support the overall management of assigned projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with budgetary, scheduling, quality, and safety goals, while also providing hands-on support for construction activities performed by contractors and vendors at project sites.

Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on assigned projects.
- Participate in project walk-downs, validate completed work against design requirements, and review contractor payment requests.
- Verify constructability, assess field status, ensure proper resource allocation, and resolve issues as needed.
- Coordinate project activities with vendors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, community officials, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in project scope control, budget oversight, scheduling, technical issue resolution, performance reporting, and work-in-progress tracking.
- Interface with landowners, local regulators, and state agencies to support project progress.
- Reinforce expectations related to safety, compliance, corrective actions, and professional conduct for employees and contractor staff.
- Support cross-functional activities including safety programs, engineering, construction, budgeting, analytics, and contract administration.
- Interface with the project s management committee and provide regular updates.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities in Cost Analysis & Reporting:
- Support budget development, cost control, monthly forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Maintain and update databases/spreadsheets for cost analysis and reporting.
- Perform variance reporting, ledger reconciliation (FMIP), journal entries, corrections, and adjustments.
- Manage monthly commitments and accrual requests, create work orders, and assist with Capital Work Order closeouts.
- Prepare project cash flows, scope control estimate revisions, and integrate cost data from multiple sources.
- Assist with department business planning and support tax status determination.
- Generate, maintain, and close PWAs (Project Work Authorizations).
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for cost reporting and controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 1 3 years of relevant project engineering experience (internships/co-ops considered).
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, construction/maintenance practices, and cost analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
- Familiarity with SAP, FMIP, or similar project/financial systems preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
