Position: IT Director Healthcare

Location: Boston, MA (Onsite/Hybrid preferred)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Up to $180,000/year (based on experience)

Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned IT Director with extensive experience in the healthcare and hospital environment to lead and manage enterprise-wide IT operations, digital transformation initiatives, and cloud strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of managing large teams (60+ staff), overseeing a multimillion-dollar IT budget ($5M), and driving innovation within complex healthcare ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of hospital-wide IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage a team of 60+ IT professionals including system administrators, network engineers, application support, and project managers.
  • Oversee digital transformation initiatives, including cloud migration, EMR/EHR enhancements, interoperability, and telehealth systems.
  • Lead IT planning, architecture, and implementation aligned with clinical and business objectives.
  • Manage an annual IT budget of approximately $5 million, ensuring cost-effective technology investments and ROI.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for secure and efficient IT operations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, clinical teams, and vendors to align technology with patient care and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure systems are compliant with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-based platforms, modern infrastructure, and emerging technologies across departments.
  • Provide risk management, disaster recovery planning, and cybersecurity leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5+ years in a hospital or healthcare system environment.
  • Proven experience managing large cross-functional teams (60+ members).
  • Demonstrated success leading complex digital transformation programs, especially involving cloud migration (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Strong budgetary oversight experience; must have managed $5M+ annual budgets.
  • Deep understanding of hospital systems such as EMR/EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech), and healthcare IT ecosystems.
  • Solid grasp of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (Master s degree or MBA preferred).
  • Certification(s) such as CHCIO, PMP, ITIL, or CISSP.
  • Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and healthcare IT procurement.
