General Purpose Rotating Equipment Specialist - Beaumont, TX (12+ Months)
Location: Beaumont, TX
Duration: 12+ Months (long-term contract)
Schedule: Standard 5/8s with overtime as needed
Per Diem: Not available - local candidates preferred
About the Role
iSphere is seeking a General Purpose Rotating Equipment Specialist to support a major client in Beaumont. This role is about more than keeping equipment running it s about driving safety, reliability, and long-term improvements across rotating equipment assets.
The Specialist will act as a subject matter expert (SME), providing oversight, mentorship, and technical support while collaborating with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams. You ll have a hand in everything from failure analysis and repair scoping to mentoring technicians and shaping long-range reliability strategies.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Reliability Leadership

Serve as a role model for SSHE standards, ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture.

Drive reliability improvements through failure analysis, root cause investigations (RCFA), and corrective action planning.

Support abnormal and non-routine operations by providing technical expertise on rotating equipment.
Equipment Troubleshooting & Repairs

Lead first-pass troubleshooting for problem equipment and support predictive maintenance technicians on vibration and condition issues.

Provide repair scope, hold points, and inspection requirements for field and shop work.
-
Approve scopes, estimates, and recommendations for outside vendor repairs.

Ensure repair procedures and specifications are accurate, documented, and communicated.
Planning, Projects & Turnarounds

Collaborate with planners, field supervisors, and engineers to develop work orders and schedules.

Support turnaround (T/A) and project activities, including scope development, FAT/SAT support, installation, and commissioning.

Verify quality assurance steps are followed during construction and repair work.

Provide input on long-range maintenance plans and reliability strategies.
Records & Quality Control

Maintain oversight of rotating equipment records, spare parts management, and documentation (e.g., FEWA packets, PMI docs, repair closeouts).

Conduct quality checks for field and shop repairs, supporting outside inspectors when needed.

Drive continuous improvement of preventive maintenance (PM) strategies based on RCFA and field learnings.
Mentorship & Training

Mentor and coach technicians, fostering a culture of excellence in craft performance.

Provide feedback and training sessions (technical courses, lunch-and-learns, etc.).

Support operator and craft training initiatives on new or upgraded equipment.
Strategic Improvement
-
Contribute to equipment strategy development and long-range improvement planning.

Actively participate in RCM, RBWS, and safety studies.

Help identify and resolve bad actors in the equipment fleet.

Support site implementation of lessons learned from other networks and facilities.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
-
High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree strongly preferred.
Experience:
-
5+ years of rotating equipment maintenance experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or related heavy industrial facilities.

Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, vibration analysis, repair scope definition, and quality oversight.

Strong SAP S/4HANA knowledge for maintenance and record-keeping.
-
Prior experience supporting turnarounds, projects, and reliability initiatives.
Skills & Competencies:

Strong technical expertise in rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, turbines, etc.).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Ability to mentor technicians, influence stakeholders, and foster team ownership.

High attention to detail with a drive for continuous improvement.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Licenses & Certifications:
-
Valid state-issued driver s license.
-
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid TWIC card.
-
OSHA or reliability-related certifications are a plus.
