Role: Mechanical & Piping Field Engineer
Location: Spring, TX (Onsite)
Executive Summary:
Field Engineers are responsible for project management and providing technical engineering support for operations and maintenance of pipeline, tank farm and/or fuels terminal assets.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of Field engineering experience in the piping/mechanical discipline.
- Successful completion of Design/Drafting curriculum from an accredited institution (Preferred).
Role and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing field execution of facility upgrades work which may include terminals, tank farms, pipelines and salt dome storage facilities.
- Includes managing several projects in various stages of execution and comprehending project scope definition, engineering design, estimate development, material and service procurement, schedule development and field execution using the project implementation processes.
- Provides multi-discipline technical support and troubleshooting, working with Operations to develop and implement practical solutions to operate and maintain assets within project scopes.
- Works with facility equipment including pumps, piping, valves, flow meters, tanks, salt domes, flares, docks, foundations, structures and other mechanical- and civil-related assets.
- Participate in operating area risk management activities.
- Depending on work location and area of responsibility, position involves outside the office working with Operations personnel at field operating locations. A portion of the field work may involve travel and overnight stays.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; think critically while evaluating problems and formulating solutions.
- Attention to detail - Field/Walk-down and data gathering/measurement experience. Perform precise field data collection of dimensions, reference points, and existing installations to ensure accuracy during fabrication and construction.
- Assist with field monitoring and coordination of projects during construction.
- Provide edits/updates in CAD to plant documentation such as P&ID's, Plot Plans, etc.
- Ability to learn and demonstrate design standards and practices which apply to his/her for assigned project and ensure all drawings are prepared using EMPCo standards for completeness, and overall quality, and follow document control procedures.
- Collaborate with different project stakeholders like engineering, operations, project development and execution team, Subject Matter Experts, Vendors/Suppliers, construction contractors, procurement staff on design development and installation details.
- Have strong background in piping systems, drafting standards, and relevant codes.
- Must be a self-starter and understand project workflow to meet schedules.
- Strong Written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, creative, organized, and solution advocate.
- Flexible to work with different time zones (like India / across US) to connect with remote design team and sites.
- Ability to drive independently to different sites across US to perform above expected activities as required.
- Need TWIC card details.
Preferred Additional Functions:
- Perform and complete detailed designs of civil/structural projects assigned utilizing CAD (3D CAD preferred).
- Be able to utilize 3-D Modeling Tools to generate deliverables.
- Working experience with 3D CAD and Laser Scanning processing to create detailed mechanical/piping designs is preferred.
- Innovative thinker with skills using Blue Beam, Photo Imports, and other media for different functions.
- Having high level knowledge on the Electrical and Instrumentation details are preferred (for interface only).
