Job Description

This role is for a Classified Linux IT Systems Engineer with a focus on supporting Red Hat-based Linux distributions, Kubernetes and High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters.

Linux System administration of heterogeneous networks integrated into Windows Server Active Directory Domains.
VMWare vSphere Infrastructure management of ESX clusters spanning multiple distributed networks.
Maintain operating system cyber compliance, upgrades, and patching. (Windows/Linux/VMWare)
Perform guidance and management for hardware, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance on multiple architectures
Ensure the integrity and availability of applications as well as coordinate new application installations, upgrades, and customer support in classified areas.
Implements security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures.
Full-time onsite role, working the majority of the day in closed areas.

Basic Qualifications

Experience building, operating, and maintaining secure operating system configurations as well as secure networks with demonstrated technical knowledge.
Significant experience managing Red Hat-based Linux Systems using an Active Directory authentication model. (Red Hat 8/9 ; Rocky 8/9 ; CentOS 8/9)
Experience maintaining VMWare vSphere Virtual Infrastructure hosting a hybrid VM workload. (Windows / Linux / Kubernetes)
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Demonstrated collaboration, including interpersonal and teaming skills
Ability and willingness to accommodate occasional off-shift hours and travel


Desired skills

Prefer Security+, or other IAT Level II/III security certification.
Familiarity of Stateless High Performance Compute Cluster administration and maintenance. (Slurm Workload Manager / Warewulf Provisioning)
Scripting ability to support system administration activities and automation. (i.e. Ansible, Python, BASH, Perl, Batch, VBScript, PowerShell, etc.)
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Experience with Trellix Endpoint agents on Linux.
Technical documentation creation and management; including designing, building, and documenting new environments/systems.
Experience maintaining Linux baselines, including security settings and hardening.
Intuitive thinker that can contrive and implement new solutions to technical problems.
Knowledge and experience implementing technical requirements on multiple operating systems for NISPOM Chapter-8, JAFAN, JSIG, DoD RMF, and other protection level caveats.
Understanding of basic routing/switching networking concepts.
Familiarity with engineering software and license mechanisms, particularly FlexLM

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
