Job Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

The Cost and Data Analysis Systems Specialist (Costing Systems Administrator/Developer) at General Motors is responsible for developing and maintaining cost and data analysis tools for the Program Product Cost Optimization group. This role requires collaboration with internal teams (IT, cost estimation, cost knowledge management, value chain engineering) and external software suppliers. The position involves managing multiple projects, using initiative and creativity, and developing systems to standardize processes and deliver six sigma cost models. The specialist will work with cutting-edge automotive technologies and experts.

What You'll Do
  • Analyze, organize, and understand large datasets.
  • Develop analytics tools and AI solutions using Python, R, C/C++, SQL, and Java.
  • Utilize statistical and analytics software: Matlab, Tableau, QlikView, Excel (Advanced), PHStat, SAS 9.4, Amazon Quicksight, SAP ERP 6.0, Neo4J, ArcGIS, Power BI.
  • Maintain and enhance software for cost estimations.
  • Mentor Cost Estimators in data analysis.
  • Manage data related to piece cost and vendor tooling.
  • Collaborate with the GPSC Cost Knowledge Management team.
  • Travel domestically or internationally for training and collaboration.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 3-5 years of experience in automotive cost estimating, manufacturing, product design/engineering, purchasing, or business analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Business Analytics with a concentration in Statistics.
  • Experience in financial evaluation of technical concepts and understanding of production processes.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry trends, including new technologies, autonomous driving, electrification, and additive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in advanced software languages for building AI solutions and analytics tools.
  • Ability to learn and use commercially available Cost Estimation software.

  • Manufacturing or launch experience in an automotive setting (OEM, tier 1 or tier 2).
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost factors such as labor, burden, material, SG&A, and profit.
