The Curiosity in Science Classrooms Lab at the University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks multiple applicants for data collectors in the Greater Philadelphia area to support onsite data collection in Gladwyne, PA.

The data collector position will be in-person and part-time requiring between 10-15 hours/week.

The Curiosity in Science Classrooms Project Data Collector (Wage) will conduct on-site sessions at partner education centers, working directly with students and teachers. Incumbents will collect data using project guidelines and ensure secure transfer of collected data. The position involves establishing rapport with young participants along with knowledge of study research procedures and protocols, so experience interacting with children and attention to detail are necessary. Extensive training will be provided.

This is an in-person position located in Gladwyne, PA.
  • Procure data through observation, interviews, and analysis of records.
  • Check data from completed forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Record data on standard forms by assigning codes, writing abstracts or summaries, and making graphic representation.
  • Assist in preparation of reports and analysis.
  • Transcribe data from other sources which may include medical records and other reports.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Compensation range: $17-$25 per hour

Qualifications:

Required: a high school diploma or equivalent is required

Preferred: completed coursework at an institute of higher education, at least one year of experience performing direct work with children in either an educational setting or an out-of-school setting such as a summer camp or an after-school program.
