Job Details

CFD Research is seeking a talented, senior level Radar HWIL Engineer/ Analyst to join a well-established team on Redstone Arsenal. The candidate will be responsible for investigating radar analysis and performance characteristics from the viewpoint of both radar software algorithms and hardware. The candidate will also be involved with integrating and analyzing complex scenarios for radar search, track, and discrimination performance, including EA and EP phenomenology. The candidate will work closely with a small team for independent performance assessment for flight and ground test campaigns. The candidate should have a love for supporting the warfighter by traveling onsite to train, test, and assist the units per customer direction.

This position requires the ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations for field testing (up to 25% annually).

The position requires that candidate hold a secret level security clearance to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in the candidate being ineligible for this position.

Required Skills / Experience:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science from an accredited institution
  • Thorough understanding of both front end and back-end radar signal processing algorithms (e.g. matched filter, antenna patterns, beamforming, CFAR detection)
  • 5+ years of experience with sensor algorithms and performance analysis (AN/TPY-2 or SBX preferred)
  • Experience with system and component level data analysis
  • Proficient in data manipulation and analysis, data visualization, signal and data processing, and/or system engineering using MATLAB, Python, and/or similar tools
  • (Active Secret clearance preferred.)
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively across multiple efforts


Preferred Skills/ Experience:
  • Candidates with the following experience are preferred:
  • Experience with AN/TPY-2 Radar specific analysis
  • Experience with the full THAAD weapon system
  • Experience with real time radar signal injection HWIL systems
  • Experience in C/C++ tooling
  • Any other experience in relation to missile defense systems


Location: This role is based in the Redstone Arsenal, AL area, and is 100% onsite. There may opportunity for Telework flexibility, depending on experience level.
