Job Description:

  • The Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor s degree.
  • Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power-related systems.
  • Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
  • Provides guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe work environment by putting safety first.
  • Understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance.
  • Understand the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Understand design practices and work processes.
  • Use all software applications used in design.
  • Understand industry and Client design standards.
  • Support design standard and criteria development for the system.
  • Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations.
  • Estimate material for projects.
  • Transmit construction packages and supporting specifications.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Introductory engineering knowledge.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Limited discretion in making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor.
  • Basic discipline software knowledge.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and/or vendors.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans - intermediate to advanced proficiency.
  • MS Office - intermediate proficiency.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Preferred:

  • CAD/GIS - basic proficiency.
  • Hydraulic analysis experience.
  • Project Management.
