Title: ServiceNow Business Manager

Location: MD, DC, VA. (Remote)

Duration: 12 Months Contract to hire.

Job Description:

Terms of Employment:

  • Contract, 12 Months (There is a potential for contract-to-hire for the right candidate.)
  • This position is primarily remote. Ideal candidates will be located in the DMV area. Candidates must be based in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas.
  • Travel is estimated as to be less than 10% of the assignment. During the initial month, there is potential for onsite meetings in Reston, VA once or twice. Travel would be reimbursed.

Overview:

  • Join a forward-thinking organization as they embark on a transformative journey to implement ServiceNow for the first time! We are seeking an experienced Business Consultant to provide strategic leadership and oversight into this critical initiative. Reporting to senior project leadership, you will be the key liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and the ServiceNow vendor. Your mission will be to champion the client's best interests, ensuring the implementation aligns with strategic objectives, adheres to best practices, and delivers maximum value. This is not a hands-on technical configuration role; your focus will be on strategic guidance, vendor management, and driving successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert leadership and strategic oversight for all phases of a new ServiceNow implementation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and the ServiceNow vendor to develop, maintain, and execute a comprehensive implementation roadmap and strategic plan.
  • Manage the relationship with the ServiceNow implementation vendor, ensuring they meet contractual obligations, timelines, and quality standards, while advocating for the client's needs.
  • Guide internal teams on ServiceNow best practices, effectively communicating the value and rationale, and confidently pushing back when necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Facilitate key discussions and decision-making processes, ensuring all voices are heard and the project stays on track.
  • Oversee the implementation flow, ensuring due diligence, compliance with industry standards, and appropriate escalations.
  • Act as the central point of contact for interpreting business objectives and translating them into actionable strategies for the ServiceNow platform.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., Lead, Senior Consultant, Project Manager with strong oversight duties) on multiple ServiceNow implementations, with a strong preference for experience implementing ServiceNow "from scratch" or leading significant platform expansions.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing third-party implementation vendors, particularly ServiceNow or similar enterprise software providers.
  • Demonstrable experience providing strategic oversight and direction on implementations, rather than focusing on hands-on technical configuration or administration.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to proactively lead and tactfully push back on both vendors and internal teams to drive best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of ServiceNow implementation methodologies, governance, and best practices.
  • Solid experience with ServiceNow ITSM module implementations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification or higher.
  • Experience with integrating multiple ServiceNow instances or working with middleware in a ServiceNow context.
  • Familiarity with other ServiceNow modules such as Demand Management, Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and/or Software Asset Management (SAM).
  • Residency in the DC/MD/VA tri-state area or one of the client's 11 approved hiring states (primarily East Coast, plus Texas).
  • Openness to a contract-to-hire arrangement.
  • Relevant ServiceNow certifications (e.g., Implementation Specialist).

Sincerely,
