Your Opportunity
Our Buildings teams in Houston TX is seeking for an enthusiastic Senior Structural Engineer to collaborate on the design of facilities with our Architects, Interior Designers, and other Buildings Engineers. The position will provide structural support for K-12 education, higher education, commercial, federal, municipal, and industrial building projects, as part of the integrated services design team.

In this Senior Structural Engineer role, you will be accountable for Buildings structural engineering in the Houston office. You will work with structural leaders to attract, grow and retain high quality staff and mentor future professionals in your team. Your Key Responsibilities
Team Management

• In conjunction with other stakeholders, identify and forecast staff needs and assignments based on current and projected workload

Project Management

• In collaboration with structural engineering leaders, responsible for managing the financial performance, quality control processes, and project delivery for Structural Engineering projects.
• Assists in developing project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects
• Contributes to the development of proposals for projects of varying size and complexity
• Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating
• Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors
• Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
• Oversees and manages multiple projects
• Responsible for large projects of high complexity

Engineering

• In collaboration with senior team members, responsibility for structural design and overall management of projects either as part of a project team or independently
• Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all structural engineered systems or products for a project
• Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
• Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of building's structural systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Demonstrated ability and desire to work with, and contribute to, a larger team (people management experience, including project-related work, is highly desirable)
• Requisite knowledge and application of structural material design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
• Working knowledge of several different construction types including steel, concrete, wood and masonry.
• Understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others
• Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Structural Component Design Software, Comprehensive Building Analysis Software, and Structure Finite Element Analysis such as Tekla, Bently/RAM Products, Risa 3D, and/or CSI Products.
• Valid driver's license.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Master's degree preferred
• Licensed Professional Engineer is required
• Minimum of 10 years of experience is required

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
