Systems Administrator - LINUX / Containerization

THE WORK
The GG System Administrator is a highly technical and customer-focused responsible for designing, developing, and deploying complex, mission-critical systems that integrate Linux, Ansible, Git, security, and automation technologies. The role requires a deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures, as well as experience with containerization, orchestration, and DevOps practices. The GG System Administrator must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value propositions. This role is more independent rather than being on a team of SAs. The primary functions of this position include:

Linux Distribution Knowledge:
Proficient in Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian
In-depth understanding of Linux kernel, file systems, and networking

System Administration:
User and group management
File system management (partitioning, LVM, etc.)
Network configuration and management (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
System security and hardening
Performance monitoring and tuning
DevOps Principles (GitOps/Builds/Pipelines) Familiarity
PKI/Certificate Management Familiarity
STE/STN Tool Management/Troubleshooting Familiarity

Ansible Scripting:
Proficient in Ansible playbook development and execution
Understanding of Ansible modules, roles, and templates
Experience with Ansible Tower or AWX

Git Version Control:
Proficient in Git command-line interface and Git workflow
Understanding of Git repository management, branching, and merging

Automation and Scripting:
Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl
Experience with automation tools such as SaltStack, Puppet, or Chef

Docker:
Understanding of Docker containerization and orchestration and experience with Docker image creation, deployment, and management
Knowledge of Docker networking, volumes, and storage

Kubernetes:
Understanding of Kubernetes architecture and components (e.g., Pods, Replication Controllers, Services) and experience with Kubernetes deployment, scaling, and management
Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, storage, and security

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 15 years or more of professional experience. Considered an expert, authority in discipline.

DOD 8570 certification to meet IAT Level 2 requirements

Possess all capabilities as defined by the GG Statement of work (SOW) Appendix B for the USG standard SA labor category level 3.

Willing to travel approximately 10%

Desired skills

Container Orchestration:
Experience with container orchestration tools such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, or Apache Mesos
Understanding of container networking, service discovery, and load balancing

Cloud Native Technologies:
Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), container registries (Docker Hub, Google Container Registry), and cloud-based logging and monitoring tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Prometheus)

Monitoring and Logging:
Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana
Knowledge of logging tools such as ELK Stack, Splunk, or Logstash

CI/CD Pipelines:
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI
Understanding of pipeline automation, testing, and deployment

Networking and Storage:
Experience with networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP) and storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS, Ceph)

Desired Certifications:
RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
LFCS (Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator)
CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)
CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $117,200 - $206,770. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
