Role: ERISA/ESOP Attorney
Location: Atlanta GA

Position Summary:
This position will provide legal support for (1) a wide variety of ESOP transactions and other matters in which Trust is an ESOP trustee and (2) litigation and U.S. Department of Labor investigations.
Essential Functions:
Deploy an understanding of ERISA and tax laws applicable to ESOPs
Prepare, review and/or negotiate the terms of purchase and sale and related documents for ESOP transactions
Help manage lawsuits and S. Department of Labor investigations
Conduct legal research for litigation and S. Department of Labor investigations
Assist in the preparation of motions, briefs, and other court filings and responses to U.S. Department of Labor inquiries
Assist in the development of litigation strategy
Attend conferences to increase ESOP knowledge and skills
Marketing and sales
Some travel required
Report directly to the head of ESOP team
Qualifications:
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills in the ERISA area
Legal research skills
Demonstrated experience with, or at least interest in, the preparation of briefs and motions
Ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously
Maintain a high level of service to both Trust colleagues and to ESOPs and the employers that sponsor them
Experience with negotiations
Strong organizational skills
Bright, creative, ability to think outside the box
Ability to communicate effectively with outside litigation counsel in ESOP litigation and S. Department of Labor investigations
Superior writing skills
Good interpersonal skills and a team player
Full time in office
Education/Experience:
Juris Doctorate
A concentration in ERISA, and exposure to ESOPs
Litigation experience is desirable but not required
Minimum of 7+ years of professional work experience
