What you'll do
- Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods
- Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication
- Perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions for material and process issues
- Create and execute test plans, write reports and input to specifications for materials, tools, and processes
- Qualify and approve equipment, materials and processes
- Guide material testing in the Materials & Processes Laboratory
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
- Travel to suppliers as needed
- Integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines
- Manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into your work
- This role is full-time 2nd shift and is expected to be 100% onsite

- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (And a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' experience or a Master's degree (Level 2) or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years' experience or Master's and 3+ years (Level 3)
- Willingness to work 2nd shift.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 1+ years working with composites, elastomers, and associated processing techniques (Level 2 or 3 applies based on years of experience).
- Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques.
- Familiarity with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives.
- Experience with composite failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and failure analysis.
- Experience in technical specifications, reports, and test plans
- Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using Microsoft Office.
- Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations and briefings
- Ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment
