Compensation: Compensation will depend on experience, with a range of $100,000 - $120,000 for full-time, plus benefits including participation in health insurance, vision, and dental benefits; 401K retirement plan; and paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Job Description
Position Overview
We are looking for an accomplished Business Data Analyst who possesses expertise in process documentation, workflow optimization, and technical analysis. The ideal candidate will be proficient in working with large datasets, designing robust databases, and leveraging business intelligence tools to drive data-informed decisions. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture, process mapping, and analytical reporting, with added expertise in geospatial technologies, particularly the ESRI platform and its feature layer architecture. You'll collaborate across departments to identify improvement opportunities, analyze performance metrics, and create clear documentation that supports business operations and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document and analyze existing business processes and workflows across multiple departments to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for optimization.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and validate business requirements and translate them into actionable technical or analytical solutions.
- Design and implement workflow improvements, automation strategies, and process enhancements to drive operational efficiency.
- Develop detailed process documentation, including SOPs, flowcharts, diagrams, data dictionaries, and user guides.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis using SQL and other relevant tools to extract insights, support root cause analysis, and inform business decisions.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
- Utilize tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Visio (or similar) to manage and maintain documentation and project workflows.
- Design and maintain relational databases with a focus on scalability, performance, and integrity.
- Create and optimize complex queries to support reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
- Leverage Power BI and other BI tools to develop dashboards and visualizations that communicate key business metrics.
- Apply geospatial analysis using ESRI tools, with a strong understanding of how feature layers are structured, published, and consumed across web maps and applications.
- Manage and analyze spatial data using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and related tools, ensuring proper layer configuration, symbology, and attribute integrity.
- Present findings, recommendations, and process documentation clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, tools, and best practices in data analytics, process improvement, and technical writing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, or hybrid role with a focus on process and technical documentation.
- Proficient in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and reporting.
- Strong experience in database design, including schema development, normalization, and performance tuning.
- Experience creating structured documentation such as SOPs, workflow diagrams, process flows, and technical manuals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert data into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with documentation and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart).
- Knowledge of business process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Exposure to data visualization tools Power BI, Tableau is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency with ESRI tools, including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro, with a clear understanding of feature layers, their role in spatial analysis, and how they integrate with enterprise systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
