We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Network Engineer to be a pivotal part of our engineering team, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our critical network infrastructure. Reporting to senior engineering leadership, the Network Engineer will play a crucial role in the lifecycle management of our robust internal data networks. This encompasses everything from strategic planning and system deployment to continuous optimization and proactive problem-solving, ensuring seamless connectivity for all development, testing, and operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance network solutions across the enterprise, including complex fiber optic and copper cabling installations.
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot core network devices, with a strong emphasis on routers and switches from leading vendors like Cisco and Arista.
- Develop, document, and enforce network architecture standards, operational procedures, and best practices to ensure optimal network health and data integrity.
- Collaborate extensively with software development and quality assurance teams to provide network support for ongoing projects and to rapidly diagnose and resolve network-related incidents.
- Monitor network performance metrics, analyze traffic patterns, and propose strategic enhancements, capacity upgrades, and technology refreshments to meet evolving demands.
- Partner with our information security team to implement and audit network security controls, ensuring compliance and protection against threats.
- Manage network inventory, oversee equipment lifecycles, and coordinate with vendors for procurement and support.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of dedicated network engineering experience
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale network infrastructure, including experience with 100 Gigabit Ethernet deployments.
- In-depth hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS and/or Arista EOS command-line interfaces for configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of advanced Layer 2 networking protocols (e.g., VLANs, Link Aggregation, various Spanning Tree implementations).
- Expertise in Layer 3 routing protocols, including dynamic routing (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and IP Multicast principles.
- Proficiency in network diagnostic tools and methodologies for identifying and resolving complex connectivity and performance issues.
- Solid understanding of network security fundamentals, including firewall policies, VPNs, and access control.
- Experience with network monitoring systems and protocols such as SNMP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
- Experience with specialized high-bandwidth networks, potentially including those handling media workflows (e.g., related to uncompressed or lightly compressed video).
- Familiarity with precision timing protocols like PTP (Precision Time Protocol - IEEE 1588) or similar synchronization methods.
- Working knowledge of standards and protocols used in networked media environments (e.g., SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS).
- Experience with various streaming protocols such as RTSP, RTMP, or HLS.
- Exposure to network automation scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible) or integration with automated testing pipelines.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, Arista ACE/ARE).
- Basic system administration capabilities on Windows, Linux, and/or macOS platforms to facilitate network troubleshooting and support.
