Description

SAIC is looking for a Engineering Technician V to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.



JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Autodesk Inventor CAD Drafter to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and managing detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor. It is preferred to also have experience with Windchill Configuration Management. This role involves close collaboration with engineers and other team members to develop precise and accurate designs that meet project requirements and industry standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 3D Modeling and Drafting: Create, modify, and manage detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Develop and update technical drawings, including assembly drawings, part drawings, and schematics.
  • Work closely with engineers and other team members to ensure designs are accurate and meet project specifications.
  • Ensure all drawings and models comply with industry standards, company guidelines, and client requirements.
  • Maintain and organize drawing files and documentation in a structured and accessible manner.
  • Track and manage revisions of drawings and models, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Document Engineering Change proposals (ECPs) and incorporate changes via Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Manage product lifecycle data using Windchill PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.
  • Maintain configuration control of design documents and drawings within the Windchill system.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure all design changes are properly documented and approved.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with configuration management processes.
  • Conduct quality checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design intent.
  • Identify and resolve design issues in a timely and efficient manner, providing solutions that meet project requirements.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field and seven years or more of proven experience as a CAD Drafter with a strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be accepted.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for technical drawing and drafting.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and precise drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving design issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
