Job Title: Technical Lead - Vehicle Drive Controls Systems Engineer
Duration: Full-Time/Direct Hire
Location: Erie, PA (Full Relocation Assistance Available for qualified candidate)
Pay Range: $120,000- $150,000/yr - Starting pay may go higher for the right candidate - (Full Benefits Package, Medical, Dental, Vision Care, 401k, 12 paid holiday and paid time off, Benefits Start Day One of Employment)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ or more years of hardware control theory development experience
  • Experience using model-based designing tools such as MatLab/Simulink and/or MatrixX.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • EE degree
  • PID Control
  • Classic Drive/Motor Control Theory
  • Classic Filter design
  • Hardware in Loop

The Lead Controls Engineer will develop, implement, and validate control theory, control systems for electric drive off highway vehicles. These propulsion systems will include control of electrical power input from an alternator, catenary, batteries, or other sources that feed traction and auxiliary inverters used to drive propulsion motors and auxiliary loads. The propulsion control system also interfaces with other onboard and offboard vehicle systems. These Mining Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) have payload capacities ranging from 100 to 400 tons. Needs to have experience with Power Electronics, strong Controls Theory knowledge, experience with Simulation & Modelling, of dynamic vehicle machinery. MATLAB, Simulink sills required. Know how to manage the motion of motors/engines.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Document system requirements and flow requirements to subsystem, component & software development teams.
  • Evaluate detailed design for technical merit & adherence to sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Verify and validate control system
  • Coordinate sub-system validation and reports for testing performed internally, at 3rd party sites, or on customer site.
  • Support factory build of prototype & standard production systems.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
    Willingness to travel periodically for durations of 2 to 3 weeks to conduct testing or investigate issues.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering & Controls
  • Experience with electric propulsion mining vehicle control development
  • Experience in surface mining.
  • Successful experience working in multi-location engineering teams involved in design and validation activities
  • Successful experience working with global teams
