POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Enterprise Portfolio Management Office within the EPMO provides strategic leadership over FPI s enterprise project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices. This role is accountable for establishing and advancing governance frameworks, promoting structured resource allocation, project scoping, and budget planning within the PDLC (Project Delivery Life Cycle). With a focus on maturing delivery capabilities and optimizing portfolio management practices, the Director champions enterprise standards and continuous improvement across the organization.
In addition to driving portfolio governance and operational discipline, this role serves as the people leader for the delivery organization including project managers, program managers, and coordinators providing coaching, talent development, and performance oversight. The Director partners closely with the Enterprise Delivery Execution Director, who is responsible for tactical execution, delivery health, and stakeholder engagement. Together, they ensure a seamless connection between planning and execution, with shared accountability for surfacing risks, aligning capacity, and delivering against portfolio priorities including customer-facing initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for direction and oversight of individuals and EPMO team for the daily management of an enterprise-level Project Management Office for FPI that includes the development of the people, PDLC process, and knowledge of the tools for managing the EPMO and supporting our customers.
- Participate in the Intake/Demand Management process with other key stakeholders to understand its capacity to project ratio at a granularity that can enable capacity shifting for agility and continue to refine the process with Best Practices.
- Track standard key performance metrics and manage portfolio scorecard to monitor the health of the portfolio.
- Champions talent development and onboarding processes to grow a high-performing EPMO team aligned with industry standards and evolving enterprise needs.
- Leads the development of career pathways, skill-building programs, and role clarity across the EPMO to foster a high-performing and scalable team.
- Communicate and educate the organization on EPMO processes, policies, and PPM tools (e.g., GPS Presentations).
- Support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board level operational report-outs as needed that involve portfolio reviews, operational strategy, process improvements, and reports/analytics on the health of the portfolio.
- Monitors and maintains portfolio-level roadmaps to ensure delivery sequencing, scheduling, and resource planning align with strategic priorities defined by the VP of Customer Solutions/CTO, and other leaders.
- Serves as a strategic governance liaison with Sponsors and senior leaders to ensure alignment on portfolio health, best practices, and delivery frameworks
- Applies expert knowledge of portfolio management principles, methods, techniques, and tools (e.g., holistic view and management of the portfolio roadmap)
- Be a partner internally to FPI and for all Customers to facilitate the transparency of project/program collisions that can be identified, discussed, and help drive mitigation for agreement of all parties.
- Partners with Resource Management Director to provide oversight and strategic direction for resource management tooling and data governance, in collaboration with operational owners.
- Generates value-add strategic portfolio reporting for project health performance, financials, alignment, priority, and overall risk diversification.
- Evaluates project performance against goals and objectives and takes necessary action to address deviations.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Strategic Portfolio Management
- Demonstrated ability to translate enterprise goals into actionable portfolio plans. Skilled in balancing competing priorities, aligning funding and resources, and maintaining visibility into project interdependencies and outcomes.
- Delivery Governance and Framework Compliance
- Ensures consistent application of FPI s delivery methodologies (Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall) and tollgate standards. Monitors adherence to execution frameworks to ensure delivery practices are auditable, traceable, and aligned with internal controls and industry best practices.
- Capacity, Financial, and Resource Planning
- Strong understanding of portfolio-level capacity modeling, resource forecasting, and financial monitoring. Able to track budget utilization, identify cost risks early, and support financial reporting in coordination with Finance. Ensures resources are allocated effectively and in line with strategic priorities.
- Cross-Functional Influence and Collaboration
- Effectively partners with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Delivery to ensure alignment on portfolio priorities, sequencing, and governance expectations.
- Data-Driven Portfolio Oversight and Risk Mitigation
- Proficient in using dashboards, scorecards, and delivery metrics to monitor portfolio health and surface emerging risks. Leverages data to inform proactive risk mitigation strategies and ensure timely leadership visibility.
- People Leadership and Talent Development
- Experience leading and coaching a diverse team of program and project managers. Builds high-performing teams through feedback, skill development, and role clarity.
- Process Improvement and Operational Maturity
- Continuously identifies opportunities to improve intake, prioritization, reporting, and governance processes. Promotes standardization and scalability across delivery operations.
- Organizational Agility
- Demonstrates adaptability in navigating changing priorities and organizational needs. Able to balance strategic objectives with real-time delivery constraints.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, M.S. in Technology Management) preferred
- PMP certification required; certifications such as PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent are a plus
- 7+ years of leadership experience in project, program, and portfolio management, including people management and cross-functional coordination
- Demonstrated ability to lead portfolio operations across multiple delivery methodologies, including Agile, Hybrid, and traditional models
- Proven track record of delivering complex technology initiatives on time and within budget, with strong stakeholder engagement
- Proficiency in portfolio and project tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Visio, and Teams; experience with tools like Jira or Confluence is advantageous
- Familiarity with ITIL, Lean, or service management frameworks is helpful
MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Manage administrative responsibilities, including reviewing and approving weekly timecards, processing time-off requests, tracking compliance tasks, and supporting team adherence to organizational policies and deadlines.
- Conduct performance reviews by setting and communicating clear expectations and objectives, monitoring performance against goals, providing continuous feedback, and addressing performance issues promptly and effectively.
- Oversee talent management processes for reports, including hiring, termination, performance evaluations, and pay reviews, ensuring alignment with unit objectives and adherence to company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Must be able to work scheduled hours and overtime as needed.
- This role has been designated as a Hybrid role, which gives employees the opportunity to work from home on Mondays and Fridays and working in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
