Job Description

Incumbent servers as the Supervisor of the Exterior and Interior Plumbing Shop, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plumbing department, ensuring the efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of both interior and exterior plumbing systems. This role includes supervising a team of plumbers and industrial water maintenance mechanics, managing workflows, ensuring safety standards, maintaining inventory, and ensuring quality control for plumbing projects.


Responsibilities
  • Supervises work schedules, requirements and personnel resources to ensure contract requirements are properly met. Ensures employee compliance with safety, security, property and material management, time and attendance.
  • Oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems for both interior and exterior applications, such as water lines, drainage systems, and sewer connections.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues and problems.
  • Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Work Tasks and contract requirements for response, performance and completion times. Completes all Work Task feedback in accordance with established procedures.
  • Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure accomplishment in most effective and efficient manner. Interfaces with other shops, customers and Government representatives as required achieving maximum productivity and reduction of lost time. Monitors work to ensure control of costs, including minimization of overtime/lost time and effective use of tools, equipment and materials; scope, including the documentation of changes to support job amendments; and quality of work performed.
  • Keeps assigned Maintenance System Supervisor informed of problems and unique warranting management notification.
  • Ensures that plans, blueprints, materials, and equipment are available for plumbing projects, and coordinates work with other involved departments and request assistance when required.
  • Ensures plumbing work adheres to state and local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
  • Seeks constantly to improve service to the customer at reduced cost. Makes suggestions related to use of improved procedures, methods, technology, tools and equipment, and human resources to achieve improved productivity, quality and cost performance.
  • Maintains records of inspections, repairs and recurring maintenance checklists.
  • Controls tools, equipment, materials and vehicles to ensure inventory control, effective utilization, safe and proper operation, cleanliness, and cost effectiveness. Turns in excess, damaged or unserviceable items in accordance with current procedures.
  • Keeps current on procedures, policies, instructions, technical orders, and manufacturer s manuals. Conducts on-the-job training.
  • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing that pertains to particular trades or skills.
  • Ensures that section employees are aware of and adhere to standard timekeeping procedures, and all employee timesheets are completed, signed and approved in the correct pay period.
  • Resolves disciplinary problems and refers the more serious problems to the Assigned Maintenance System Supervisor with a detailed report.
  • Manages and documents Back Flow Preventer preventive maintenance, and Fire Hydrant Flow Test for hydrants to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Seven years experience in plumbing.
  • Valid Journeyman Plumber License.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience with demonstrated abilities in effectively supervising assigned resources (equipment, material and personnel) and operations work.
  • Current state driver s license, acceptable driving record.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
  • Ability to complete required training and obtain additional certifications.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Basic skills in using various computer software, including ability to use the Windows operating system as well as common office software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in operation and maintenance services supporting a military base or civilian installation.
  • Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
  • Experience working on government facilities.
  • Pool and Spa Certification

Physical Demands:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to hear and speak.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
  • The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Lifts exceeding 50 pounds will be accomplished with two-man teams and using appropriate safety equipment to efficiently accomplish the task.
  • The employee must be able to work in confined spaces or at heights of 120 feet (such as in a manlift/boom lift).
  • The employee is occasionally required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings weekends and/or holidays.
