Description
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Glen Allen, Virginia. This role will play a critical part in designing and implementing data solutions that support the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence functions. As a senior technical expert, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create resilient, scalable, and efficient data systems, ensuring seamless data integration and analytics capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement robust data solutions following best practices for data warehouse architecture.
Develop and optimize data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Design and create complex business intelligence reports and visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Python.
Validate and test code to meet business and architectural standards, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Troubleshoot data systems, resolve technical issues, and implement enhancements to improve performance.
Work within an Agile framework, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and collaborative development efforts.
Support and occasionally lead initiatives related to data analytics, governance, and quality improvement.
Document technical processes and maintain up-to-date product documentation.
Conduct and coordinate unit and system integration testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent relevant experience.
At least 7 years of experience in information technology, preferably in financial services or highly regulated industries.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data warehouse development and related technologies.
Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and movement.
Strong understanding of data dictionaries, relational databases, and data analysis techniques.
Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in collaborative, iterative environments.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
