As a Lab Fabrication Tech, you will install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems on aircraft, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. Your expertise in manufacturing processes will be crucial in executing engineering work orders and contributing to the development of new prototypes. This role is suited for a passionate and skilled technician who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and is eager to drive innovation in aerospace technology.
This role requires permanent relocation to Southern California.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair various mechanical equipment on aircraft, including flight control, landing gear, and engine systems.
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools and test equipment to ensure equipment meets required standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to execute work orders, ensuring all technical aspects are handled with precision.
  • Document all maintenance and repair work, contributing to maintenance reports for aircraft certification.
  • Fabricate parts and assemblies using tools like soldering irons, lathes, and milling machines.
  • Perform ground operations for flight tests and maintain comprehensive records of all work performed.
  • Collaborate with teams to update standard operating procedures and provide training to junior technicians.
  • Maintain shop premises in a clean and orderly condition.

Required Skillset:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience as an engineering technician in the aerospace industry.
  • Aircraft repair experience — especially with repair, replacement, and assembly — is critical.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and machinist mindset.
  • Proficiency in aircraft repair, modification, and flight operation support.
  • Hands-on experience with wire harnessing, crimping, and soldering.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with engineers, team members, and management.
  • A&P License strongly preferred. Candidates actively pursuing licensure or open to obtaining it will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, sheet metal work, and electronics.
  • Previous experience in prototype fabricating.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring drawings and technical documentation.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, and reach during prolonged periods as required by job duties.
  • Capable of pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, or moving items up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various schedules, work overtime, and travel as needed.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Bonus Skillset:

  • Prior experience in an R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering design tools such as CATIA V5 & V6.
  • Experience in planning assembly and manufacturing processes and creating technical documentation.
