As a Lab Fabrication Technician Assistant, you’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and experienced aircraft technicians to help assemble, install, and support the development of a full-scale eVTOL prototype. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about aviation and hands-on technical work, and who is eager to contribute to the evolution of next-generation aircraft technologies.

This position requires relocation to Southern California and the ability to work onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the fabrication, mechanical installation, and basic assembly of aircraft components under supervision.
  • Support engineers and technicians in executing work orders across manufacturing, prototyping, and testing activities.
  • Perform basic mechanical and electrical installation using tools such as soldering irons, lathes, and milling machines.
  • Participate in ground operations for flight tests and document all completed work to ensure traceability.
  • Contribute to the creation of work instructions, part travelers, and technical documentation.
  • Report part non-conformities or process deviations to senior team members.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback and suggestions.
  • Carry out other tasks as needed to support flight test readiness and rapid prototyping.

Required Skillset:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a technical trade program or 1–2 years of related vocational coursework.
  • Foundational knowledge of aircraft maintenance (general aviation or UAV), fabrication, or machining.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structures and electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of machining, welding, sheet metal, or electronics work.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards and shop best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs, and work in physically demanding environments (tight spaces, ladders, heights, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work overtime or irregular hours as needed.

Bonus Skillset:

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
  • Experience in R&D, flight testing, or prototype assembly environments.
  • Familiarity with design software like CATIA V5 or V6.

Location: Southern CA
