Apps & AI Front-End Technical Lead (Digital and Marketing Product, Commercial Technologies)

Location: Alameda, CA [ 5 days a week at onsite mandatory]

Summary:

We are seeking a Marketing Architect with experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry to serve as an Apps & AI Front-End Technical Lead within the Digital and Marketing Product team in Commercial Technologies. This individual will partner with both commercial and medical teams to drive omnichannel marketing strategies leveraging a Customer Data Platform (CDP), marketing automation, and analytics.

This role will take the technical lead on implementing and enabling marketing tactics using a CDP (Census) integrated with Redshift, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ensuring that marketing data is structured, segmented, and activated to support digital media, email, direct mail, and other digital channels. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of marketing data in biotech, an ability to rapidly learn new applications, and a strong understanding of digital marketing concepts and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Provides hands-on technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers, fostering best practices in coding, design, and development methodologies.
  • Requirements Translation: Deeply understands customer needs, product owner requirements, and detailed functional specifications from the Domain Delivery Lead (DDL) and Product Analyst (PA), translating them into clear technical designs and actionable engineering tasks.
  • Architectural Contribution: Contributes to the architectural discipline within the Digital and Marketing domain, ensuring solutions are scalable, robust, maintainable, and align with overall system architecture principles.
  • Solution Design & Oversight: Leads the technical design of features and components, ensuring solutions are technically sound, meet quality standards, and align with the defined user journeys.
  • Code Quality & Standards: Ensures adherence to coding standards, performs regular code reviews, and champions engineering best practices to maintain high code quality and system stability.
  • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Acts as a technical escalation point, effectively diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges and impediments encountered by the development team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with the DDL, Product Analyst, and other Technical Leads to ensure technical alignment, integration points, and dependencies are well understood and managed.
  • Technical Strategy & Innovation: Contributes to the overall technical strategy and roadmap, staying abreast of new technologies and advocating for innovative solutions where appropriate.
  • Operational Support: Provides technical expertise and support for operational needs, including assisting with incident response, performance tuning, and ensuring the health and stability of deployed solutions.
  • Team Empowerment: Empowers and motivates the development team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and shared ownership.
  • Lead the design and implementation of omnichannel marketing architecture and initiatives using marketing data products (Redshift), CDP (Census), and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Provide insight and recommendations towards the data architecture to ensure proper data structure, segmentation capability, and activation across channels.
  • Rapidly learn new marketing, commercial, and medical applications; support implementation, integration, and onboarding.
  • Evaluate and integrate analytics tools (e.g., Sprinklr, GA4, Google Ads, email analytics) into the marketing technology stack.
  • Provide technical support for other digital initiatives as needed (e.g., content management systems, social listening, cookie consent management, website hosting and DNS configuration, event management platforms, etc.).
  • Partner closely with marketing, medical, IT, data engineering, compliance, and vendor teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, guiding technology decisions and recommending best practices.
  • Integrate generative AI capabilities into front-end workflows and collaborate with back-end and data teams to surface AI outputs (ie: insights, predictions) in an intuitive, compliant, and user-friendly way.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in digital marketing technology or MarTech, ideally within biotech, pharma, or regulated industries.
  • Proven experience with CDP platforms (ideally Census), Redshift, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing data structures, segmentation strategies, and activation across digital channels (email, direct mail, paid media).
  • Familiarity with digital marketing concepts such as analytics (GA4, email analytics, Google Ads), customer journeys, and personalization.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., MLR, HIPAA, GDPR) in a biotech or pharmaceutical context.
  • Strong technical leadership and solution architecture skills; ability to translate business requirements into scalable, compliant solutions.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentorship skills; ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn and implement new marketing and digital technologies as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with marketing data pipelines and modern data stacks.
  • Familiarity with CDP (Customer Data Platform) concepts.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance considerations in healthcare marketing (e.g., HIPAA, opt-in/opt-out management).
  • Agile/Scrum experience and familiarity with product management practices.

The salary range provided for this contract role represents our good faith estimate for this position. Within the range, individual offers will vary based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process (W2 or C2C).
