Job Title: Data Integration Developer
Location: Remote Sacramento, CA
Duration: 12 Months

Overview:

An enterprise public sector organization is seeking a Data Integration Developer to support the design, development, and modernization of its data integration and business intelligence (BI) platforms. This role involves building dimensional models, creating transformation solutions, and providing functional administration to maintain and expand data analytics capabilities.

This work supports the data warehouse and operational data store environment, with responsibilities including new development, software enhancements, and ongoing maintenance and operations. The selected candidate will develop ETL jobs using Oracle Data Integrator, support existing infrastructure, and contribute to modernization initiatives that introduce automation and DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

< data-start="1154" data-end="1197">Data Integration & BI Development:</>
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain ETL processes and dimensional models (star schemas) for business intelligence solutions.

  • Build data warehouse components that support subject area-specific reporting and advanced analysis.

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and integrate them into the enterprise data platform.

  • Ensure validation and seamless integration of datasets into the data warehouse.

  • Provide backup support for managing over 3,000 ETL jobs and related operational and warehouse systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with data flows and ETL jobs.

< data-start="1797" data-end="1842">Platform Modernization & Automation:</>
  • Lead the modernization of the BI data platform using DevOps frameworks and cloud technologies.

  • Architect automation frameworks for testing, deployment pipelines, and monitoring solutions.

  • Use Java and Groovy programming to build custom modules, automate workflows, and develop connectors for cloud data sources.

  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions to evaluate new data integration tools with a focus on performance, scalability, and flexibility.

  • Support hybrid environments that integrate on-premise and cloud data sources.

< data-start="2377" data-end="2421">Knowledge Transfer & Documentation:</>
  • Ensure continuous and thorough knowledge sharing with internal teams throughout the duration of the contract.

  • Document all work products, including status reports, business processes, test cases and outcomes, and incident resolutions.

  • Participate in scheduled knowledge transfer sessions with state personnel to ensure operational readiness and continuity.

Deliverables & Schedule:

All deliverables are due monthly by the 10th business day of each month and include:

  1. Data Integration Development: Includes design, programming, testing, and enhancement of BI solutions that analyze business transactions through a structured data warehouse.

  2. Platform Modernization: Focuses on automation, DevOps integration, and modernization of the existing BI platform using advanced tools and frameworks.

  3. Ongoing Knowledge Transfer: Regular sessions and documentation to ensure internal staff are equipped to maintain and operate systems developed or supported under this contract.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Business Intelligence Experience: Participation in at least two successful BI or analytics projects, with at least one project having a minimum $1 million budget.

  • Domain Expertise: At least five years of experience working in one or more of the following domains: pensions, health insurance, customer service, or finance.

  • ETL/Data Integration Experience: Minimum of five years of experience designing and implementing ETL processes that transform disparate data sources into data warehouses or data marts.

  • Technical Stack Proficiency: At least three years of hands-on experience working on data integration projects using Oracle Database 19c and Oracle Data Integrator or a comparable ETL tool.

  • SQL/PLSQL Development: A minimum of five years of experience interpreting requirements and developing complex SQL, PL/SQL, and building data marts.
