Position: Project Manager
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Duration: 7 Months+ [11/1/2025 6/30/2026] with possibility of renewal


Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support an IT and business initiatives program for a state government agency in Tallahassee, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project planning, reporting, scheduling, and budget management, with proven success in working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and proactively update project status tracking.

  • Prepare and deliver required project status reports for both the Department and Florida Digital Service (FLDS).

  • Ensure compliance with reporting and documentation requirements outlined in DMS-FLDS, Chapter 60GG-1 F.A.C.

  • Monitor and update project schedules, produce variance reports, and identify risks or slippages.

  • Perform schedule analysis, validate logic, run what-if scenarios, and review critical paths.

  • Collaborate with project teams and vendors to gather updates, resolve conflicts, and track deliverables.

  • Develop, validate, and maintain cost estimates, baseline budgets, and monthly variance reports.

  • Update forecasts, perform cost variance analysis, and support legislative budget requests.

  • Support Department leadership with presentations, documentation, and other project management tasks as assigned.


Required Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Communications, or related field.

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) credential from PMI (required).


Experience Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional experience in IT, Business Administration, or Communications.

  • Proven expertise in project scheduling, reporting, and cost/budget management.

  • Experience preparing and compiling legislative budget requests (highly desired).

  • Familiarity with FDOT Program Management and Construction scheduling processes (highly desired).

  • Strong public speaking, training, and communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholder groups (highly desired).

  • Budget management and financial analysis.

  • Legislative reporting and compliance.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
