Summary of Position:
Systems and Network Administrators are responsible for the day-to-day operation of organizations networks. They organize, install, and support an organization s computer systems, including local area networks, wide area networks, network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. Administrators manage an organization s servers and desktop and mobile equipment. They ensure that email and data storage networks work properly.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software
- Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use
- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future
- Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems
- Research new technologies by attending seminars, reading trade articles, or taking classes, and implement or recommend the implementation of new technologies
- Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement
- Implement and provide technical support for voice services and equipment, such as private branch exchange, voice mail system, and telecom system
- Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
- Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements
- Train people in computer system use
- Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate purchases
- Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records
- Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine and printer. Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25lbs across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma Required
- 4-10 Years of Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree or related experience are preferred
- At least 4- 10 years of experience supporting end users providing technical assistance and resolving technical issues for all known operating systems
- Experience in diagnosing complex technical issues
- Experience in trouble shooting network, server and operating systems
- Must have great skills in customer service skills
- Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of hours and can managed to focus for several hours attending to the problems and solutions of the company s comer system
- Using computers and computer systems to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
- Maintain computer networks to enhance performance and user access
- Implement security measures for computer or information systems
- Create electronic data backup to prevent loss of information
- Develop computer or information security policies or procedures
- Resolve computer network problems
