Job Description
Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Automation Engineering Associate Manager to lead our team of Manufacturing Robotics and Applications Engineers in Lufkin, TX. This leader will drive the advancement of automated processes for electronic assemblies that meet stringent military standards. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking innovator, responsible for overseeing all automated process equipment, ensuring optimized performance, and championing advanced automation and robotics technologies to accelerate production readiness
What You Will Be Doing
Key responsibilities include:
Leading a team of engineers supporting the deployment, optimization and sustainment of automated process equipment
Driving strategic automation and robotics insertion to enhance throughput, affordability and producibility
Managing the selection, procurement, installation and validation of new automated equipment
Ensuring automated systems meet military standards for electronic assembly production
Monitoring equipment and tool performance for efficiency and initiates corrective actions for deficiencies to ensure product quality
Promoting data-driven continuous improvement through statistical process control and automation analytics
Recruiting, developing, mentoring and evaluating engineering talent to build a high-performing, forward-thinking team

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical field
5+ years of experience in automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing engineering
2+ years of leadership experience managing teams or projects in a manufacturing facility
Must be highly skilled in manufacturing processes, equipment selection and capital equipment procurement
Understanding of basic tooling, fixtures and equipment programming
Experienced with military and IPC specifications for electronic manufacturing
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, schematics and specs for drawing review, approval and producibility
Strong knowledge of process control, data-driven decision making and statistical process control methods
Experience solving complex problems
Must have verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills consistent with Full Spectrum Imperatives
Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence design for manufacturability.
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Desired skills
Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or Business/Technical Management
Experience leading robotics or applications engineering teams in a production environment
Familiarity with defense/aerospace manufacturing standards and regulatory requirements
Proven success driving automation strategy and technology insertion
Experience mentoring and developing early-career engineers
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and proactively mitigate causes of process failures
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with customers and management all levels
Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma experience, Green or Black Belt Certification
Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and be a motivated self-starter
Experience with SAP manufacturing execution system or equivalent

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $99,700 - $175,835. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
