Working Title: IT Business Systems Analyst
Position Summary
We are seeking an IT Business Systems Analyst with very strong SQL skills and direct UCPath experience. These two qualifications are required for success in this role. The analyst will support HR, Payroll, and related business systems by performing data validation, troubleshooting integrations, executing testing, and analyzing business processes. The role serves as a critical liaison between HR, Payroll, and IT teams.
Key Requirements
Must-Have Skills
? Very strong SQL proficiency
Ability to validate HR and Payroll data, troubleshoot integrations, and navigate complex table relationships.
? Hands-on UCPath experience
Direct work with the UCPath system at a University of California campus, including understanding of:
o Data model
o Funding structures & uploads
o Combo codes & FAUs
o Benefits files
o Payroll validations
Additional Preferred Experience
? HR and Payroll system background (e.g., PeopleSoft HCM, Oracle HCM)
? Functional experience supporting HR, Payroll, Workforce Administration, or Benefits
? Ability to:
o Gather and analyze business requirements
o Document processes and workflows
o Perform system and integration testing
o Support production issues
o Partner cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, and IT teams

? Candidates without UCPath experience
? Candidates with only surface-level SQL ability
? Candidates lacking HR/Payroll functional knowledge
? Candidates requiring extended time off at or near the start date
Job Function Summary
This role involves technology-based analysis of business practices, processes, and challenges. Responsibilities include:
? Designing process and system solutions
? Developing specifications and requirements
? Validating requirements and ensuring alignment with business needs
? Creating user interface design elements
? Planning and executing unit, integration, and user acceptance testing
? Assisting with training materials for system implementations
? Leading or participating in cross-functional teams to resolve significant business or system issues
The position functions with a high degree of autonomy and often requires problem-solving for unique or unprecedented issues.
Custom Scope
As a key member of the IT Functional Team, the Business Systems Analyst provides analytical, technical, and operational support for Oracle Cloud and associated boundary systems. Responsibilities include:
? Partnering with HR, Payroll, and campus stakeholders to understand business processes
? Defining and documenting system requirements
? Supporting configuration, data integrity, and system maintenance across ERP functions
? Analyzing new business requirements and creating functional specifications
? Facilitating process improvement initiatives
? Conducting system testing, including integration and UAT
? Resolving routine to complex production issues
