9-12 months contract - contract to hire

Hybrid 3-4 days onsite

The primary role of the Project Manager is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of multiple simultaneous projects. This role requires the Project Manager to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to prescribed methodologies, on time and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project s objectives and oversee change and quality control throughout the project s life cycle. The Project Manager will also be responsible for assisting the I.T. project office with oversight of methodology and project documentation requirements for all I.T. projects.

Job Duties:

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop framework for tracking project activities.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents following SS I.T. project methodologies.
  • When required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and cost.
  • Prepare monthly SS I.T. status reports as required.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Create and maintain the team , foster teamwork while using adequate emotional intelligence.
  • Communication with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to interact with diverse personalities.
  • Develop project budget. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. Provide leadership.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Ability to coordinate activities.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Maintain an issues log.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas. Ability to run effective status meetings.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Manage the integration of project change with I.T. s change process (RFC).
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. Client management.
  • Conduct post project reviews and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Share lessons learned with all project managers.
  • Ensure that projects have direct links to company s strategic and operating plans.
  • Ensure projects support a business goal or strategy.
  • Assist in prioritization process.
  • Maintain the document management system (DMS) repository of project documentation
  • Monitor monthly compliance requirements for all approved I.T. projects. Take corrective action with other project managers as needed. These include project charters, executive summaries, functional business requirements, technical design specifications, testing documentation, request for change (RFC s) and post project implementation review (PIR s).

Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business

Experience: 3-5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution. Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project and Project Online. Familiar with technology and technology projects including application development, applications, databases, and operating systems. Able to quickly come up to speed on new solutions, new ideas, and new processes to communicate about and drive project deliverables. Familiar with procurement/contracting and accounting methods. Capable of managing contractors and monitoring work progress. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. Flexible during times of change. Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines. Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating. Excellent negotiating skills. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments. Ability to defuse tension among project team and/or team members, should it arise. Strong interpersonal skills. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products. Innovative. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

Equivalent Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in programming, technical leadership, functional leadership, and project management utilizing a proven methodology as well as the balance of the experience mentioned above.

Specialized Skills: Strong customer service skills. Ability to manage and plan multiple project tasks concurrently using Microsoft Project or some other project management tool. Knowledge of electric utility industry is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Licenses: PMP Certification.
