SecuriGence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Engineer to join our team. This role will be pivotal in supporting the migration of complex database systems to cloud environments, optimizing data pipelines, and ensuring robust database performance and security. You will leverage your expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud database technologies to drive successful data migrations and maintain high-availability database solutions. This role will be pivotal in supporting the migration of complex database systems to cloud environments, optimizing data pipelines, and ensuring robust database performance and security. You will leverage your expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud database technologies to drive successful data migrations and maintain high-availability database solutions. Responsibilities
Cloud Database Migration & Management:
- Support the migration of Oracle databases to RDS, SQL, and Aurora, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Utilize AWS DMS, SSMA, and Azure ADF for seamless database migrations to cloud platforms.
- Design and implement data replication pipelines and flows, including the migration of proxy tables.
- Configure and manage High Availability (HA) solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, in cloud environments.
- Develop and implement Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies for cloud-based databases.
Data Engineering & ETL:
- Create and optimize data pipelines from scratch, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high-performance processing.
- Perform data cleansing, data integration, and data quality assurance activities.
- Leverage big data technologies (Databricks, Spark, Scala) to efficiently process and analyze large datasets.
- Design and implement complex ETL processes using SSIS, Talend, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Pentaho Data Integration (PDI).
- Develop and automate ETL jobs for data migration, transformation, and integration.
Database Development & Optimization:
- Develop relational and/or object-oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.
- Design and optimize database schemas, entity-relationship diagrams, and data models.
- Create and optimize complex stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, and triggers in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
- Perform query optimization and performance tuning using SQL Profiler and Database Engine Tuning Advisor.
- Develop materialized views.
Technical Expertise & Support:
- Provide Tier IV SME support for the O&M DBA team.
- Troubleshoot data and/or database migration/replication issues.
- Project long-range requirements for database administration and design.
- Work on the front-end of the lifecycle requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operating Capability.
- Assist with recommendations for and analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance.
- Translate requirements and data into usable documents by creating/recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; update existing queries, create new ones to manipulate data into a master file; build complex systems using queries, tables, open database connectivity, and database storage/retrieval using Cloud methodologies.
Data Governance & Security:
- Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
- Implement Role-Based Access (RBA) for database users.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Proactively identify and address software vulnerabilities.
Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design optimal data models and architectures.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, workflows, and processes.
- Use of version control systems like Gitlab.
- Work within Agile/Scrum environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Education requirement may be substituted with 4+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer/Database Engineer, with demonstrated experience managing and migrating large data and databases.
- Public Trust required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to solve complex data-related issues.
- Experience with MicroStrategy tools
- Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and leveraging big data technologies.
- Understanding of data modeling/visualization, database design principles, and data governance practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud database solutions and technologies, including AWS (RDS, Aurora) and Azure.
- High-level proficiency with Oracle, RDS, SQL, and Aurora database platforms.
- High-level proficiency with database migration tools - DMS, SSMA, ADF.
- High-level proficiency in ETL processes and hands-on experience with technologies such as Databricks, Python, Spark, Scala, JavaScript/JSON, SQL, MicroStrategy, Business Object, and Jupyter Notebooks.
- Proficiency in SSIS, Talend, and Pentaho Data integration (PDI).
