Job Description

Become a Staff Engineer, Software Test at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., impacting a worldwide audience. You'll uphold quality and efficiency standards to support our mission of global health and safety.

Location: West Hills, CA. Relocation assistance is NOT provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and apply test strategies, frameworks, and methodologies to boost software quality and efficiency.
  • Build, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and reusable automation frameworks for web and API testing.
  • Embrace and champion development methodologies that prioritize software quality through rigorous testing practices.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and QA teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Conduct API, UI, mobile, and database testing to ensure end-to-end quality.
  • Establish test metrics and benchmarks to measure software quality and process efficiency.
  • Guide and mentor test engineers on automation guidelines and advanced testing techniques.
  • Assess and deploy new testing technologies and tools to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and security testing strategies align with business needs.
  • Review and provide recommendations for improving test case coverage and defect prevention.
  • Contribute to shift-left testing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or equivalent experience in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years in software testing with at least 3+ years in a QA architect role.
  • Strong experience in test automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, etc.).
  • Expertise in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI).
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner).
  • Experience with mobile testing using Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.
  • Experience with cloud-based and containerized environments (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in database testing using SQL queries.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and shift-left testing methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AI/ML-based testing methods.
  • Familiarity with security testing tools and standard methodologies.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $103,100.00-$154,700.00.
