Job Title: Mainframe SDM
Location: Frisco, TX (Onsite)
Duration/Term: Long-Term Contract


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Mainframe SDM to oversee regional infrastructure operations with a core focus on mainframe technology, service optimization, and organizational leadership. This role demands strong technical expertise, proven leadership, and a track record of successfully managing complex infrastructure initiatives, P&L ownership, and team development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage functional departments and technical managers to ensure business objectives, SLAs, and KPIs are met.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, transformation projects, and the expansion of infrastructure service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with account teams to create demand forecasts, resource planning models, and delivery strategies for large-scale clients.
  • Guide project forecasting and workload allocation across functions; provide executive advice on performance outcomes and operational adjustments.
  • Oversee the development and adherence to operating budgets, recommend financial variances, and ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Govern regional infrastructure expenditures in accordance with company policy and cost-efficiency goals.
  • Manage high-impact relationships between delivery and consumer/client groups, providing strategic direction and conflict resolution.
  • Identify and implement service improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and align with account needs.
  • Contribute to solution proposals and adoption of emerging technologies that support business innovation.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance development for infrastructure team members, including direct-report supervisors and project leaders.
  • Monitor infrastructure system performance, availability, and security, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Act as the escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents, guiding resolution and preventive strategies.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure documentation, disaster recovery plans, and IT service continuity protocols.
  • Promote automation, ITIL alignment, and resource optimization across service delivery operations.


Required Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of overall IT experience, with 10+ years in mainframe infrastructure (technologist, operations, or engineering roles).
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing teams with supervisory structure.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven proficiency in project management, IT infrastructure strategy, and operational budgeting.
  • Strong background in mainframe systems and enterprise architecture.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL processes, automation platforms, and transformation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage P&L, grow infrastructure services, and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all organizational levels.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and committed to continuous professional learning.
