Position Summary

The Data Link/Weapons Director (DL/WD) will manage current and future datalink systems and infrastructure at the 149th FW, providing support to all datalink operations to include SADL, ACMI, ADSB, BOSS, WarRoom 1.0, and MIDS-J, as well as manage gateway operations to ensure interoperability of systems. The DL/WD shall support formal syllabus training, continuation training, and guest unit training. The DL/WD shall provide both Blue Force and Red Force Command and Control (C2) during flying missions. At Site Manager discretion, the DL/WD may operate the Instructor Operation Station (IOS) and the Master Control Station (MCS), providing both Blue Force and Red Force C2 during simulator missions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage current and future datalink systems and architecture, currently includes SADL, ACMI, ADSB, BOSS, WarRoom 1.0, and MIDS-J.
  • Manage gateway operations to ensure interoperability of all current and future systems.
  • Manage War Room operations at the 149th Operations Group.
  • Inject virtual Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground tracks for Blue Air and Red Air forces to include SAMs/Lowdown.
  • Merge FAA feeds to connect simulator to live fly scenarios.
  • Provide Command and Control (C2) for Blue Air and Red Air during live fly missions.
  • Provide Command and Control (C2) for Blue Air and Red Air during simulator missions.
  • Perform Range Training Officer (RTO) duties in support of live fly missions.
  • Perform Range Training Officer (RTO) duties in support of simulator missions.

Required and/or Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, licenses, skills)

Required:

  • Experience in data link systems architecture and operations, specifically with SADL, ACMI, ADSB, BOSS, WarRoom 1.0, and MIDS-J.
  • Experience in gateway architecture and operations to maximize interoperability of systems.
  • Current and qualified Air Battle Manager/Weapons Director able to provide Blue Force/Red Force Command and Control (C2) during live flight and simulator missions.
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic, high stress atmosphere with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with DoD, FAA and other data link and gateway systems
  • Air Battle Manager or Weapons Director Weapons School Graduate

Education, License, Credential Requirements:

  • Adjudicated Secret with a 6-year scope
