Job Summary: We are seeking a technically proficient and enthusiastic Java/Scala Developer to join the Distributed Risk Storage team. This team is responsible for developing high-performance libraries and components for storing, retrieving, and processing extremely large volumes of data generated across tens of thousands of grid engines in both private data centers and public cloud environments. The role involves building a scalable, secure, and cost-effective custom data platform that adheres to strict standards around encryption, access controls, data lineage, and retention. Job Responsibilities: Design and develop new and existing components using Scala and Java Contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, and deployment Collaborate across multiple time zones in an agile team environment Partner closely with internal developers to understand system requirements and deliver robust solutions Suggest and implement improvements to existing systems and development processes Take ownership of specific system components and their maintenance Ensure quality through unit testing and proper documentation practices Required Skills: Proficiency in Scala and/or Java (or strong expertise in other languages such as C++ or Python) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Solid understanding of core computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, concurrency, etc.) Experience working in large-scale or enterprise-level systems Technical curiosity and a drive to continuously learn and improve Preferred Skills: Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) Exposure to Kubernetes and container orchestration Background in distributed systems or low-level system development Familiarity with code optimization and performance tuning techniques Comfort working with large data sets and high-throughput applications Prior experience in financial services or risk management (a plus, but not required)
