Job Details

The Apps and Services Platform Experiences (ASPX) team focuses on both the consumer and commercial experiences provided by the Surface platform of devices. The ASPX team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to deploy their expertise to enhance customer experiences by innovating and refining the apps and services platform for Surface devices, ensuring a seamless, intuitive, and feature-rich user interaction.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Apps and Services Platform Experiences team, you will be part of a team that works collaboratively to enrich customer experiences by making it easier to get the support they need.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Software development experience using GIT, Build and Release(CICD) automation, Site Reliability, Systems or Service Engineering experience in platforms, YAML or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for large Kubernetes clusters in Linux and/or Windows, with a deep understanding of container orchestration and cloud-native technologies.


Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.


Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements robust CI/CD pipelines using Kubernetes and Azure CDN.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and translate them into scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensures the reliability, availability, and performance of cloud-based applications and services.
  • Monitors and optimizes system performance, using telemetry and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for the adoption of new tools and practices that can benefit the organization.
  • Identifies opportunities and drives development of automation & tools to improve developer productivity.
  • Participates in on-call rotations to resolve live site incidents, minimize customer impact, and document solutions and insights that inform ongoing improvements to infrastructure, code, tools, and/or processes that prevent the recurrence of similar issues.
