What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the Lab's enterprise-wide information technology strategy, operations, and digital innovation. The CIO reports directly to the Laboratory Associate Director for Business Management (ALDBUS) and provides strategic oversight for all IT, cybersecurity, data management, and digital initiatives across the institution.
The CIO is accountable for defining and delivering IT capabilities that support the Lab's national security and scientific missions. This includes leadership over data analytics, business intelligence, enterprise application development and support, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technical services. The role requires a strong focus on operational excellence, innovation, and building collaborative relationships across the organization to position IT as a mission enabler.
This position manages approximately $200 million in annual IT operating costs and investments and leads an organization of over 1,100 IT professionals dedicated to supporting the Laboratory's complex and evolving technology needs.

Education
Bachelor's in computer science or information technology or related field (masters preferred) plus a minimum of 15 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's in information management or business management is preferred.

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Executive Leadership Experience:
- Senior-level experience in a federal agency, national laboratory, or scientific research institution.
- Proven success leading large, multidisciplinary IT teams, programs, and managing complex budgets.
Strategic and Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing a strategic vision for IT that aligns with organizational goals.
- Deep understanding of data-intensive environments, research computing, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Successful program development experience with the U.S. Department of Energy or other federal agencies.
Communication and Collaboration:
