RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Security Support Specialist I in Austin, TX. The candidate identifies, investigates, and remediates security events to ensure enterprise integrity against cyber risk.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Evaluates and recommends new security technologies
* Develops defense strategies to harden network and desktop infrastructure against known and unknown risks
* Monitors and responds to multiple dashboards and consoles for internal security solutions, web filtering, DNS/IP blocking, and Next-Gen firewall security configurations
* Collaborates effectively with other teams to ensure best practice security protocols are being implemented
* Analyzes logs and audit trails to identify suspicious activity, vulnerabilities, and potential security breaches
* Stays informed about the latest cyber threats and vulnerabilities
* Responds to security alerts, investigates potential incidents, and escalates issues as needed
* Follows established procedures to mitigate and contain security incidents, minimizing damage
* In some cases, participates in digital forensics investigations to understand the scope and cause of an incident
* Identifies vulnerabilities in systems and networks and recommends solutions to mitigate risks
* Evaluates the effectiveness of security controls and provides recommendations for improvement
* Works with other team members and potentially other departments to address security issues
* Documents security incidents, findings, and recommendations
* Communicates security findings and recommendations
* Contributes to the development and implementation of security policies and procedures
* Collaborates with third-party vendors on security matters
REQUIREMENTS:
* Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
* At least two years of experience working in the cyber security field
* Experience and education may be substituted for one another
* Knowledge of Windows operating system, applications, and network exploit/vulnerability management
* Knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting language
* Skill in written and oral communication, especially in regard to writing policies, procedures, and extensive documentation
* Working knowledge of modern antivirus and Advanced Threat Protection solutions
* Knowledge of NextGen firewall functionality and security-related configuration
* Knowledge of MS Active Directory and Group Policy
* Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure
* Knowledge of networking architecture, protocols, equipment, and NAT
* Ability to respond rapidly to critical security events 24/7/365
* Ability to respond to work communications (email, phone, text, remote desktop) afterhours
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information, especially end-user privacy
* Ability to stay current on the latest threat intelligence
* Ability to work well on a small team and adapt to fluid situations and work hours
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
