Role: CICS Administrator Exp with Monitoring Tools Like OMEGAMON or RMF

Location: Remote (Herndon, Virginia)

Duration: Long Term Contract

Statement of Work:

Operations support (CICS / RACF) and Mainframe administration for Federal client to IBM.

Task Description:

A CICS Administrator is needed to manage and maintain the performance and security of mainframe computing environments, ensuring the reliability and availability of critical applications. This role involves overseeing the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of CICS Transaction Server and related RACF security, aligning them with the client s IT strategy and objectives.

Required Skills/Level of Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a CICS administration role, preferably in a large enterprise environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of CICS Transaction Server, including its architecture, components, and operational procedures.
  • Proficiency in RACF administration (as relates to CICS), such as user ID and group management, security policy implementation, and auditing.
  • Familiarity with the installation, implementation, upgrade, and support of CICS related ISV (Independent Software Vendor) products.
  • Strong understanding of mainframe operating systems, particularly z/OS.
  • Familiarity with IT service management principles, particularly ITIL.
  • Experience in system backups, disaster recovery, and system monitoring.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various IT teams and stakeholders.

Nice to have skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a RACF role.
  • Relevant certifications, such as IBM Certified System Administrator - CICS TS or IBM Certified Administrator RACF.
  • Experience with automation tools for CICS and RACF administration tasks.
  • Knowledge of security standards and compliance requirements, such as HIPAA.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning and optimization techniques for CICS and related ISV products.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. JCL, etc.).
