Job Description:
  • The Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, automating, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and efficient platform solutions in a large AWS production environment.
  • This role involves implementing infrastructure-as-code (IaC), managing CI/CD pipelines, monitoring platform health, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, security, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, develop, and implement scalable, reliable, and efficient platform solutions based on approved designs and business requirements.
  • Automate and streamline platform processes using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Monitor system health and alerts to ensure platform availability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to enhance system functionality.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest platform technologies, tools, and best practices.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 6 8 years of hands-on experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or SRE in a large AWS production environment.
  • Strong experience with platform engineering, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or Java.
  • Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of multi-tiered application architecture and infrastructure concepts including networking, DMZs, and firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills across AWS, Terraform, UNIX, Networking, Firewalls, WAF, and web/application servers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Skills:
  • Cloud: Deep understanding of cloud platforms, particularly AWS; experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
  • SSL/Certificates: Knowledge of SSL, CSR generation, renewals, and configuration for websites, apps, and servers.
  • CI/CD Tools: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, IBM UCD/UCR.
  • Scripting & Automation: Bash, PowerShell, Windows Batch, Ansible, Terraform.
  • Application Servers: IBM WebSphere, Apache Tomcat.
  • Web Servers: IBM HTTP Server, Apache HTTP Server, Nginx.
  • Containers: Docker, Docker Swarm, RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Nomad.
  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in UNIX and Linux, including scripting and basic administration.
  • APM Tools: Experience with application/server performance monitoring and tuning.
Qualification And Education:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical discipline.
  • Relevant cloud certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Certified DevOps Engineer).
  • Additional preferred skills include web application development (Java, Python, React, Angular), open-source contributions, and database experience with Oracle PL/SQL or MS-SQL.
  • Familiarity with enterprise content management platforms such as EMC Documentum, EMC InfoArchive, SDL Tridion, or Adobe AEM.
