Role: System Analyst 3
Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Hybrid)
Duration: 8+ Month Contract
Interview Type: In-Person
Shift: Overnight (From Home)

Important Note:

This position includes temporary overnight shifts (from home).

  • Training Period: On-site for up to two weeks, Monday Thursday, 9 AM 5 PM.
  • Overnight Work: After training, work from home 2 AM 10 AM to support project work.
  • Post-Project Schedule: Return to standard 9 AM 5 PM on-site (Mon Thu) around February.

Project: POS software rollout to 400+ stores (1000+ registers) across Virginia.

Parking: Free on-site parking available

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to support the rollout and maintenance of retail POS systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Windows systems administration, scripting, and infrastructure support. You ll ensure the stability and performance of in-store technologies while collaborating with operations, network, and vendor teams.

This role involves supporting POS software (GK OmniPOS), troubleshooting issues, performing upgrades, and maintaining system security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration, Monitoring, and Maintenance (50%)

  • Perform daily system checks, backups, and patch management.
  • Install and configure hardware/software; document configurations.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security compliance.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and respond to technical queries.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks.

Retail Operations Support (20%)

  • Resolve POS, workstation, and server communication issues.
  • Support users and vendors in troubleshooting hardware/software failures.
  • Configure and secure retail environment systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service and document resolutions.

Application Support (30%)

  • Configure and support GK OmniPOS and related retail systems.
  • Administer Windows Server 2019 Active Directory and Certificate Services.
  • Manage wireless infrastructure and coordinate with vendors for updates.
  • Identify and remediate system risks in collaboration with business units.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • 5+ years of experience with Windows 10 administration, configuration, and patching.
  • 5+ years of scripting experience in enterprise environments.
  • 3+ years of networking experience (highly desired).
  • Experience with SaaS environments (nice to have).
  • Experience with POS (Point of Sale) systems (nice to have).
