We have a need for a Banner consultant. 100% Remote.

Title: Sr. Application Programmer Analyst (SIS - Banner Consultant)
Description:
Under the guidance of an assigned supervisor, the Banner Programmer plays a crucial role in supporting the District's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, currently on Banner 9. This position involves coding, writing, supporting, and troubleshooting to ensure the smooth operation of the system. Additionally, the role includes end-user support, assisting Banner users, and managing user access (Add/Delete Users). The Banner Programmer should have a strong foundation in schemas, Banner administration, technical configuration, and working with APIs.
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and coordinate complex computer systems analysis to ascertain system requirements and desired outputs.
  • Collaborate with District faculty and staff to evaluate, install, and maintain various software applications, focusing on Banner 9.
  • Analyze existing systems' performance in relation to specified requirements, particularly in the context of Banner 9.
  • Utilize current technology tools to develop a logical design from information systems requirements, including technical configuration and API integration.
  • Act as a project leader, ensuring projects related to Banner 9 are completed professionally and promptly according to District standards.
  • Coordinate and perform database modifications and complex applications programming, focusing on Banner 9, to develop new information system modules.
  • Communicate with users and staff to facilitate thorough testing of software and database performance before releasing new Banner 9 applications into production.
  • Develop detailed implementation plans for systems and modifications related to Banner 9.
  • Coordinate unit activities with District user services and technical services staff to ensure user information needs are met, particularly in the context of Banner 9.
  • Attend various committee meetings, conferences, and workshops to stay current in the programming field, with a specific focus on Banner 9.
  • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation for new hardware and software acquisitions and upgrades, specifically for Banner 9.
  • Assist with the design, programming, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of the district's internet and intranet websites and services offered via the sites, with a specific focus on Banner 9.
  • Prepare and maintain various logs, documentation, and records related to system analysis, design, and programming projects.
  • Assist with general database administration duties and act as a backup to the Database Administrator.

Secondary Functions:

  • Perform job-related duties as assigned.
  • Act on behalf of the lead in their absence (i.e., perform DBA duties), with a specific focus on Banner 9.

Desired and/or Additional Skills:

  • Argos: Experience with Argos for repository functionality.
  • Oracle: Proficiency in Oracle database management.
  • Canvas: Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system.
  • Luminis: Experience with the Luminis platform.
  • Banner Ellucian: Expertise with the Banner Ellucian suite.
  • JSON and API: Proficiency in working with JSON and utilizing APIs for system integration.
  • Documentation: Strong documentation skills to articulate system processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Additional Notes: Duration: 6-12 months
Hours: 20-40 hours/week
Location: 100% Remote (Team is onsite so local candidates would be a bonus)
