Position Overview

Amazon Leo is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to support the development and validation of advanced hardware systems, specifically FPGA's.. This role involves maintaining and calibrating test equipment, executing environmental and reliability test campaigns, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality results.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with FPGA or RF/Microwave hardware based systems (MUST HAVE ONE), and automated test environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, calibrate, and deploy hardware testers to ensure readiness for test campaigns.
  • Manage and maintain test racks, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Coordinate with the Test Execution Lead to schedule and conduct all test campaigns.
  • Provide regular status updates and report blocking issues with mitigation plans.
  • Support commissioning of racks and assist in debugging hardware failures with engineering teams.
  • Handle FPGA and RF/Microwave hardware and perform accurate RF measurements using equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power sensors, and VNAs.
  • Ensure proper handling of space-grade hardware and adherence to quality standards.
  • Generate detailed test reports and share results with internal stakeholders.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA-based systems (design, validation, or testing) or RF systems
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation and scripting.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of version control tools (Git, SVN).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Python scripting experience.


Preferred Qualifications (NOT REQUIRED)
  • Experience with NI TestStand or Keysight OpenTAP for automated test systems.
  • Strong understanding of RF principles and experience with RF test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, VNA, etc.).
  • Familiarity with environmental testing standards and procedures (HALT, HASS, TVAC).
  • Background in space-grade hardware testing and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with design for FPGA or ASIC circuitry preferred
  • Familiarity with board bring up and validation of complex designs.
  • Troubleshooting expedience for PCBA with Analog, Digital, and Mixed signal circuitry.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware failures.
