Description As a Cellular 5G/4G Firmware Verification Architect, you will be at the forefront of the embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware initiative within a silicon design group responsible for designing and productizing pioneering cellular SoCs. This position requires an individual who is proficient in all aspects of embedded firmware verification, thrives in a dynamic multi-functional organization, embraces open dialogue, and demonstrates adaptability to continuously evolving requirements.

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of component verification, integration, protocol test engineers, firmware developers, and system engineers to develop firmware verification use cases and end-to-end physical layer performance.
- Design and develop verification frameworks for 4G/5G firmware, followed by development and execution of test cases for 4G/5G firmware.
- Verify key protocols, signal processing, and numerical algorithms with exacting time, latency, and energy budgets.
- Apply AI/ML tools to streamline cellular research, improving test and development efficiency.
- Implement RAG and MCP pipelines in conjunction with data labeling to enhance the performance of the model.
- Collaborate with Hardware/Firmware/Systems teams to construct verification architectures for novel and existing features. Assist in the development of pre-silicon emulation systems/virtual platforms and apply them for pre-silicon firmware design verification.
- Evaluate and implement innovative tools for building, formal verification, and testing. Define methodologies and best practices for verification and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience in wireless communication.
- A strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and the ability to utilize AI tools such as MCP, Agents, RAG, and LLMs are essential.
- Proficiency in employing AI/ML technologies to optimize workflow efficiency.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of wireless communication fundamentals, including signal processing, and proficiency in 4G/5G specifications.
- The ability to define intricate verification use cases and schemes, thereby enhancing system performance and establishing verification criteria.
- Experience in firmware test case planning, design, and development for 4G/5G functional and performance scenarios.
- A robust understanding of various 4G/5G signaling and physical layer test equipment, including Keysight, Anritsu, and R&S, along with their respective automation interfaces.
- A background in generative models, natural language processing, and large language models (LLMs).
- Experience in failure analysis, quality engineering, or performance analysis for AI/ML-based applications.
- A deep understanding of software engineering principles and fundamental computer science concepts.
- Proficiency in build and source code control tools.
- A willingness to learn new architectures and frameworks.
- Experience with network emulators, silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms.
- A master's degree or PhD with relevant experience in the wireless communications industry is highly preferred.
