Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AS400/COBOL Developer with strong expertise in the Healthcare domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform. The role requires deep technical knowledge in COBOL, CL, DB2, and healthcare-related processes such as claims, enrollment, billing, or EDI transactions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support applications on AS400/iSeries using COBOL, CL, and DB2/400.

  • Analyze, design, and implement enhancements for healthcare applications (Claims processing, Member Enrollment, Billing, EDI, etc.).

  • Debug and troubleshoot existing AS400 programs, batch jobs, and interfaces.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Create technical specifications, documentation, and maintain coding standards.

  • Ensure application performance, availability, and data integrity.

  • Participate in system testing, integration testing, and UAT for new releases.

  • Provide production support, including incident management and root cause analysis.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in AS400/iSeries programming.

  • Strong proficiency in COBOL/400, CL/400, RPG (optional), and DB2/400.

  • Solid understanding of Healthcare domain processes: Claims (837/835), Enrollment (834), Billing, Eligibility (270/271), or Provider systems.

  • Experience with EDI file handling and batch processing in a healthcare environment.

  • Strong skills in analyzing/debugging legacy systems and implementing enhancements.

  • Ability to write and optimize SQL queries on AS400 (DB2/400).

  • Good communication and analytical skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
